DESCRIPTION: $20 SHIPPING CHARGE ADDED TO DOMESTIC INVOICES FOR THIS LOT. Antique - Stephenson, Howard and Davis of Boston antique balance with two scale plates, turned and tapered brass shaft sitting on a square brass base, removable brass balance beam, scale measures 20 inches tall x 23 inches wide including scale plates, scale require 3.8 grams in its current condition to level the plates, included with the scale is a paper label from the commonwealth of Massachusetts stating that it passed testing and including an earlier lead seal from the Department of Weights and Measurement of Massachusetts, a wonderful piece for either restoration or to be displayed in its current condition, truly a must have collectible for the early American watch collector with such close ties to two of the founding fathers of American horology.
CONDITION: Scale has several dents to base and tapered shaft giving it a slight lean to one side, top balance arm guide broken, however this does not impede the functioning of the scale, both scale plates with lead solder repair to arms attaching to base, one with cracked lead solder seam.
